Travis Scott deleted his social media accounts after being hit by trolls over his 'chocolate Batman' costume at the weekend but his leaving was not to do with this backlash

Travis Scott quitting social media over the weekend was not because of the trolling over his brown Batman costume but for a more poignant reason instead, say friends close to the star.

The 29-year-old rapper, who shares two-year-old daughter Stormi with Kylie Jenner, suddenly deleted his social media accounts after Halloween, with many believing it was because he faced a huge backlash for his Batman outfit, photos of which he had posted on Instagram.

Page Six has reported that Travis has actually temporarily deactivated his account so that he can "focus on his family."

An insider close to the rapper told the site: "Halloween had nothing to do with it.

"He is focusing on his family and their well-being and wants to influence his fans to do the same instead of being so consumed with social media."

The deleting of his social media accounts is apparently a move to show his followers that there is more to life than Instagram and Twitter.

The source said that Travis believes it is "important" to focus on other parts of his life and that this was especially motivated by it being "such a critical time in the world right now."

Travis was hit by trolling after he wore a chocolate brown Batman costume to Kendall Jenner's 25th birthday party which also doubled as a Halloween celebration.

Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner have reportedly rekindled their romance

The rapper, who's real name is Jacques Berman Webster II, was quickly mocked online after he posted a photo of his costume.

There is also thoughts among fans that Travis removed his accounts so that he could build up a buzz for new music that he is intending to release.

In early October, the rapper released Franchise Remix featuring Future, Young Thug & M.I.A. and fans are hoping that this will be followed by more.

The original track went straight in at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts, which made Travis the first artist in history to have three singles debut at number one within the span of a year.

There have been rumours that Travis has rekindled his romance with Kylie Jenner and he recently enjoyed a weekend getaway with the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star.
